Gary Vaux teamed up with Greg Gibbs to win the annual Tar
Heel Days BBQ Cook Off. Their dream has always been to just place “one time” in
the cook off, held annually in Union Iowa every August.
The “Game On Barbeque Team” won First Place in the Beef
Brisket category using Papa Fitz’s Hardwood Barrel Meat Rub and Third Place in
the Pork Butt category using Papa Fitz’s Bareback Pig. The Smoker & BBQ grill on
wheels was custom built by Gary in his welding shop.
Both men were surprised & happy when they won. Their dream
had finally come true. They said it was do to the fact they were using the Award
Winning rubs and their super secret knowledge of how to use the winning
combination of meat, rub, heat & cooking time.
The rubs Hardwood Barrel, Bareback Pig and Aunt Sassy’s
